Join us for a Saturday dedicated to tradition, memory, and the flavours of home as we learn to bake zhyngalov hats, one of Artsakh’s most cherished dishes. Food carries history; it holds the stories, resilience, and identity of a people. By preparing this recipe together, we honour Artsakh’s cuisine and the generations who kept it alive.

For those who want to learn how to make zhyngalov hats from scratch, join us in the kitchen. Feel free to bring your own apron.

Dr. Susan Pattie is a cultural anthropologist, teacher and writer. Honorary Senior Research Associate at University College London, she writes about the Armenian diaspora, including the ethnography Faith in History: Armenians Rebuilding Community (Smithsonian Institute Press). Cofounder and former Director of the Armenian Institute, London, she has also served as Director of the Armenian Museum of America and Program Manager of the National Armenian Genocide Centennial Commemorations in Washington, DC.  Other publications include Treasured Objects: Armenian Daily Life in the Ottoman Empire 100 Years Ago, The Armenian Legionnaires: Sacrifice and Betrayal in World War I, and the children's book, Who Are the Armenians?
