Rita Ovanessof
London-based artist of Armenian origin, with a City and Guild Diploma in Fashion Design, Ceramics & Design, working in both stoneware and earthenware clays. Her work is the result of her dedication and enjoyment of working with the medium of clay, creating decorative wares and sculptures. She uses the versatility of clay in the expression of her work, which is mainly inspired by metal forms and organic shapes.
She builds all her works by hand to achieve her special designs and aesthetic shapes and forms, using different methods such as coiling and stabbing, incorporating the use of coloured slips and oxides with the clay body; thus, emphasising the glossy shine of the glazes with the contrasting matt texture of the clay.
