Live Reading of Abi Zakarian’s I Have Always Been (T)here, a creative response to Eleanor Ekserdjian’s exhibition ‘We Are Our Mountains’

  • Messums London 28 Cork Street London (map)

This Monday, join us for an exciting evening, full of art and meaningful connections, where you will meet two Armenian artists.

Eleanor Ekserdjian (b. 1996) is an artist and filmmaker whose practice blends moving images with rapid mark-making. Developed following a residency in Armenia, her most recent film and painting series explores cultural memory through landscape. Pepe Karmel, author of Abstract Art: A Global History, described her work as ‘Poetic, elegant and mysterious: a kinetic, subjective transcription of the world into calligraphy.’

This process results in visually striking, emotionally charged works that inhabit a world of their own. Viewers are invited to look closely and immerse themselves within the expansive space these intimate colours and marks render.

Accompanying these works are creative responses by writer Abi Zakarian, titled I Have Always Been (T)here. Zakarian’s text directly mirrors the layers of history & horizon present in Ekserdjian’s artwork. Together they portray a shared narrative about where we are permitted to call home.

Free entrance.
